GREX Technologies develops and manufactures industrial X-ray inspection systems for food production. We are based in Limburg an der Lahn, we build every machine by hand, and we develop a dedicated solution for every customer. No two GREX machines are alike — because no two production lines are alike.

More than two decades of our own X-ray technology

Our core component is a modular industrial X-ray C-arm with a highly sensitive TDI camera. We developed this technology ourselves and have improved it continuously for over 20 years — at its core it has remained unchanged. Machines from our earliest series are still running in continuous operation at customer sites, in some cases for decades without interruption.

eTDI: 96 images instead of one

Conventional X-ray scanners use a diode line — the product passes it a single time. Our eTDI camera technology captures the same product 96 times at full resolution, using the entire X-ray spectrum from low to high energy, without gaps. The result is an image quality that comes as close as possible to medical imaging technology.

All system functions are fully integrated into an industrial control system. Operation follows human behaviour patterns — not the thought logic of engineers.

What our systems find

A metal detector sees metal. Our X-ray systems see everything denser than your product:

• Stainless steel from 1 mm
• Glass, aluminium and stone from 2 mm
• Bone, ceramics, plastics and other foreign bodies

These are guide values — what is detectable in your specific product depends on density, packaging and product height. That is why we test your product before you decide.

More than foreign body detection

The same X-ray image answers several questions at once — with no second machine and no second inspection step in your line:

• Fill level control — how precisely was the dose filled? We detect under- and overfilling before the pack leaves the plant.
• Completeness and position — is every item where it belongs? Missing or displaced components in ready meals and multi-component packs are detected.
• Packaging damage — damaged, dented or deformed packaging is detected during production.

Our portfolio

XT series — our current range in hygienic design. Cleanable with industrial chemicals and disinfectable, built for production with the highest hygiene requirements. Three sizes differing only in product width: XT-300 up to 250 mm, XT-400 up to 350 mm, XT-500 up to 450 mm.

FS-500 — the same eTDI technology and the same power, but built for a pipeline system conveying minced meat under very high pressure. Where a belt system cannot work.

Weighing systems — recently added to our portfolio. The M-300 checks weight at 100 % in the running line and combines with any GREX X-ray scanner.

XO series — one of our first ranges. We continue to service it and supply it refurbished, with current technology inside.

Hand-built in Germany

Every machine is built by hand, entirely from stainless steel 1.4301. We develop a dedicated solution for every product: product height, belt speed, evaluation logic and interfaces follow your line, not a catalogue. The values in our data sheets are standard values — not limits.

In system integration we are a decisive pioneer of the industry: we connect products of the future with products of the past through standardised interfaces — explicitly including equipment from other manufacturers.

Service that keeps the line running

Downtime costs more than any machine. That is why we put the same effort into service as into development. We accept service requests around the clock.

• We connect to the machine remotely and analyse the fault without anyone travelling — most issues are resolved at this point.
• If something cannot be solved online, our service technician sets off immediately — bringing the spare part along instead of ordering it afterwards.
• We support customers worldwide and also service series we stopped building long ago.

Responsibility

Producing in an environmentally sound way is not a declaration of intent for us. We do without oil-based cooling in any form. System components with a radiation-protection function are disposed of properly by us. In radiation protection for X-ray scanners we are a pioneer of the industry — many of our base technologies can be found in other systems today.

We have sourced electricity and heat from renewable energy since the company was founded. Consistently reducing the energy demand of our machines also reduces your operating costs.
